All documents are subject to verification. Once received, they become the permanent property of OSU and will not be returned. Therefore, you have to request your official transcripts and degree certificates as early as possible because many institutions take several weeks (or longer) to process requests.
General Requirements for All International Applicants
- Documents must be sent directly from the issuing institution whenever possible.
- Faxed, scanned, or notarized copies are not accepted as official.
- All documents must be in a sealed envelope with the institution’s official stamp/seal and signature across the flap.
- If your previous institution cannot send documents directly, sealed copies may be given to you, as long as the seal remains unbroken upon arrival at OSU.

Undergraduate Students (Bachelor’s Degree)
Refer to the “Official Documents” section in your OSU Offer Letter and Confirmation Letter for your exact requirements. These usually include:
- Official high school transcripts
- College/university transcripts (for transfer students, must be sent directly from the institution)
- Any documents required by your sponsor or Ministry of Education
Translations: If your transcripts are not in English, you must provide both the original language version and a literal (word-for-word) English translation from a qualified translator.

Are you an F-1 student? You will need to provide proof of funding in order to get your I-20. Proof of funding is a way a student shows they have sufficient funds (usually via a recent bank statement) to live and study full-time in the US for up to one academic year.
